Travel Across Europe by Train! Budapest - Cracow trip by a sleeper train | Read about our experience

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

Cracow in Poland and Budapest in Hungary are two cities really worth exploring! Both have beautiful architecture, great food, interesting history & culture and lots to discover.

Unfortunately there are no direct flights between the two so we decided to explore another and more eco-friendly option - sleeper trains!

We didn't know what to expect apart from a bed each.

The cabin was cosy with three bunk beds, a small foldable chair and a table. Take a look below.

The space is quite tight and in tripple cabins you can't sit up on your bed, only lie down. But you can always step outside to stretch your leggs in the corridor.

The journey overnight takes a couple of hours across Czechia and Slovakia with cool window views.

If you are a light sleeper you might struggle a bit with platform whistles and noises when the train slows down but it definitely has some charm, we think.

Basic toiletries and a towel is provided to freshen up. And you will get a hot drink of your choice in the morning.

Overall, we enjoyed travelling in this way and recommend trying it as an alternative to planes.
